Join Us for the Goliad Fall Flotilla!

The Goliad Flotilla is a fun, family-friendly paddling event that takes place twice a year on the San Antonio River. Whether you’re a seasoned paddler or new to kayaking, this event is the perfect way to enjoy the outdoors, connect with nature, and experience the beauty of Goliad. The Fall Flotilla is happening on November 1, 2025.

Canoe Trail Goliad is excited to announce that we have a new put in location which is west of the US Hwy 59 Bridge (currently closed for construction.) The new put in is located at 4306 US Hwy. 59.  This year’s route will be approximately 7 miles  to the Goliad State Park.

What are the water conditions?

When is the Flotilla?

The Spring Flotilla is held in mid-spring, and the Fall Flotilla takes place on the first Saturday in November.

How do I sign up for the Flotilla?

To register, complete the registration form for your group. Each participant must also print and sign a waiver before the event. Be sure to bring your signed waiver with you to check-in.

What do I need to bring?

  • A canoe, kayak, or jon boat (paddlers must provide their own boats)
  • A U.S. Coast Guard-approved personal flotation device (PFD) (required for all paddlers)
  • Paddles and any necessary gear
  • Water and snacks
  • Bug spray and sunscreen
  • A dry bag for personal items

What do we do when we get there?

Between 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM, bring your boat, paddles, and safety gear to 3506 US Hwy. 59, which is just over a mile past the Hwy. 59 bridge. Follow the signs to the new landing site where volunteers will help you unload your gear.

Then, drive to Goliad State Park, where park staff will shuttle you back to the starting point. Once on the water, enjoy a relaxing float down the San Antonio River back to the park.

Where is Goliad?

Goliad is located on US Highway 59, just:

  • 29 miles southwest of Victoria
  • 90 miles southeast of San Antonio
  • 68 miles northeast of Corpus Christi
  • 180 miles southwest of Houston
  • 120 miles south of Austin

After the flotilla, take time to explore historic downtown Goliad, where you’ll find:

  • A beautiful courthouse square
  • Antique and gift shops
  • Restaurants and cafés
  • The Presidio La Bahía and Mission Espíritu Santo

What else do I need to know?

  • All paddlers must bring their own boats and safety equipment.
  • Members may reserve kayaks (first-come, first-served).
  • No one will be allowed to participate without a proper flotation device.
  • Shuttle service and the event may be canceled by 8:00 AM due to weather or river conditions. Check with Goliad State Park at (361) 645-3405 for updates.

How much does it cost?

The flotilla is free to participate, but each paddler must pay the Goliad State Park entrance fee of $3 per person over 12 years old.

Our Spring and Fall Flotillas rely on volunteers to help check in paddlers, assist with event logistics, and monitor paddler safety along the river. Volunteering is a great way to support the paddling community, meet fellow outdoor enthusiasts, and contribute to the success of our events.
